Antique Franklin Sewing Machine - Vintage in Wooden Cabinet (Pre-1920 for sale in Harrisonburg, Virginia

$200

This is an antique Franklin sewing Machine, in it's wooden cabinet. The Franklin sewing machines were made for the Sears & Roebuck company as competition to the popular Singer sewing machines of the early 1900's. This machine is believed to be from 1, and everything on it is original, un-touched, and un-restored. It is beautiful shape for the age, and is actually quite close to be being operational. The cable (which is original) has broken simply because of age, but is intact on the machine, and the foot pedals need to be re-attached, but everything is there. I also have the box of original attachments (see pic), of which there must be 40 pieces. This sewing machine has been in our family it's entire life (Great Grandma used it), and it has been basically untouched for the past 50 years. You would need to transport this piece yourself, but I can help with the packing/loading. This one has always been a popular conversation piece. $200 OBO

"Beginning in 1911, the company introduced a number of machines based on Singer designs. They were the 'Franklin' (1911) and the 'Minnesota A' (1914), copies of Singer's Model 27/127 class manufactured by the Domestic Sewing Machine Company of Buffalo, New York. The 'Franklin' was decorated with Egyptian styled decalcomania, clearly in imitation of Singer's beautiful 'Memphis' decoration scheme. The 'Minnesota' was decorated in the same type of gold filigree used on the Davis-made 'Minnesota A.'" - Charles Law
